It works perfectly for informal afternoons around the family BBQ and slightly more sophisticated al fresco dinners, where smart-casual attire is preferred. There’s a reason why Bermudas and chino shorts are an absolute wardrobe must-have for the summer and that mainly comes down to their versatility. Virgil Abloh’s artfully experiments with deconstruction with his Off-White Blue Reconstructed Carpenter Denim Shorts. The contrast panels on the front look like they’ve been ripped straight off another garment, while the frayed edges and unfinished hems give the impression of a garment that is still in the process of being made. This is Abloh at his playful, creative best and we love this as a unique departure from the clean and pristine template that we’re of course accustomed to. This piece makes our list because it fits the ‘step out of your comfort zone’ mantra that we’re adopting this summer. Stone Island Shadow Project Black Bermuda Cargo Shorts
We really appreciate a good utility short here at Zoo Fashions, and they don’t come much more utilitarian than Stone Island Shadow Project’s Black Bermuda Cargo Shorts. As is the case with much of Errolson Hugh’s accompanying collection, these shorts experiment with zippers and hidden compartments in a way that ensures that there is always something more to discover lurking beneath the surface. The Stone Island Shadow Project has always been about technical innovation and that sentiment is exemplified perfectly by this featured piece. Palm Angels Black Track Shorts with Exodus Stripes
Palm Angels’ tracksuits are amongst the most popular of the brand’s staple silhouettes and have appeared in a number of different colours and fabrics over the years. This track short iteration, which is inspired by Bob Marley’s ‘Exodus’ album, is a particular favourite of ours, however. The striking red, gold and green stripes are instantly recognisable and deeply symbolic of Bob and his free-spirited personality.
