3. STONE ISLAND Ghost
One of the key highlights of the Ghost Collection is its all-grey colour palette. While monochrome may seem simple, Stone Island uses this limited palette to its advantage, creating a sleek, sophisticated look with Luxe fabrications & detailing, that elevates ‘basic’ clothing to another level. The garments almost disappear into their own colour, reflecting the brand’s philosophy of invisibility and precision. The uniform tone is intended to evoke a sense of camouflage, fitting seamlessly into both urban environments and nature, reflecting the “Ghost” concept where clothes are designed to exist without drawing too much attention.
Ghost pieces, derived from the concept of camouflage, are totally monochromatic, including their corresponding Compass Badge

Brand focus: Stone Island
Stone Island, the iconic Italian sportswear brand, has built a reputation for pushing boundaries and redefining outerwear. Founded by Massimo Osti, Stone Island has become synonymous with innovative materials, functional design, and a unique following.
Osti’s vision was to create clothing that was stylish yet practical, inspired by the functionality of military and workwear. He experimented with new fabrics and treatments, resulting in ground breaking garments like the Tela Stella, a water repellent cotton canvas, and the Raso Gommato, a rubberized cotton.
Stone Island’s commitment to innovation extends to the Grey Camo Mesh Reflective Nylon Coat. This garment is a fine example of the quality of outerwear by Stone Island.
From Wool Mills to World-Renowned Outerwear: The Story of Stone Island
The story of Stone Island isn't just about a brand; it's a captivating narrative deeply woven into the rich tapestry of Italian fashion and the Rivetti family legacy. It's a tale of passion, innovation, and a relentless pursuit of excellence.
A Legacy Rooted in Textiles:
Our journey begins in the 19th century with Giuseppe Rivetti, my grandfather, who established a thriving wool mill. This marked the foundation of our family's enduring passion for textiles, a passion that would be nurtured and passed down through generations.
Embracing the Future of Fashion:
My father, Silvio, took the reins of the business and embraced the winds of change. He witnessed the burgeoning ready-to-wear market during his travels to the United States and recognized its potential. Upon his return to Italy, he spearheaded the introduction of this novel concept, forever altering the Italian fashion landscape.
Adapting to Shifting Winds:
However, the 1970s brought unforeseen challenges. The oil crisis shook the industry, forcing us to adapt and embrace innovation. We recognized the need to venture beyond traditional manufacturing and collaborate with rising talents like the visionary designer Emanuel Ungaro. This marked a pivotal shift for GFT, transforming us from a solely manufacturing entity into a platform for licensing renowned Italian designers. This period played a crucial role in the rise of "Made-in-Italy" ready-to-wear, signifying the successful marriage of entrepreneurial acumen and creative talent.
The Birth of a Visionary Brand:
In the late 1970s, I, Massimo Osti, joined GFT, brimming with ideas and a distinct vision for the future. Driven by a desire to push boundaries and explore new frontiers, I envisioned venturing beyond traditional clothing and delve into the dynamic world of sportswear. This ignited a series of strategic moves, beginning with the acquisition of C.P. Company, a pioneering brand in the realm of sportswear, in the early 1980s.
Stone Island: A New Chapter Begins:
By 1993, my desire to fully embrace this new direction reached its apex. I made the bold decision to leave GFT and acquire Sportswear Company. This pivotal moment marked the official birth of Stone Island, the brand that would become synonymous with innovative materials, functional design, and a unique aesthetic that continues to captivate the world today.
The story of Stone Island is not just mine; it's a testament to the collective spirit of creativity, adaptation, and the unwavering pursuit of excellence that has become the cornerstone of our family legacy. It's a story that continues to unfold, as Stone Island pushes boundaries and redefines the landscape of modern outerwear.
At the end of 2019, I met Remo Ruffini. We talked about the ’80s, the “paninari”, our beginnings and our love for our respective companies. We immediately got along.
We talked again in September 2020 and quickly decided to join forces to face the challenges ahead united and stronger.
Stone Island and Moncler have common roots, similar entrepreneurial paths and we both share the utmost respect for the deep values of the two brands and for the people who work with us.
Thus begins a great new chapter for Stone Island.
