"Staying In" Style - Our Guide To Self-Isolation

We are living in truly extraordinary times. In what seems like only a heartbeat, our home, work and social lives (which we’re used to observing as completely separate entities) have been unceremoniously thrust together, completely redefining our understanding and perception of each one. As the unprecedented story of this viral pandemic continues to unfold, many of us are now challenged with immediately adapting to entirely new ways of life. Some of us now suddenly find ourselves standing in as home school teachers for our children, others are fashioning makeshift desks out of whatever is available, as they struggle to cobble together temporary home offices.

It’s an objectively daunting prospect. And in most cases, an exhausting one. The difference between maintaining relative sanity and cracking like an expired egg will ultimately hinge on how we choose to manage our time.

To help ease you through the trying times ahead, we’ve put together a short self-help guide to self-isolating in classic Zoo Fashions style...

1. Prepping your summer wardrobe

We know you won’t have many opportunities to strut your stuff and show off your favourite fits over the coming weeks (or maybe months), but why should that stop you from keeping your wardrobe in order? In fact, with the current lockdown situation, you’ll probably have more time than ever to re-organise and refresh. If current UK Government projections are to be believed, we’ll hopefully be free from our self-imposed quarantines just in time for the onset of summer, so why not take the time now to prepare your perfect warm-weather get-ups? Its never too early to throw on your summer-thinking cap, so treat yourself to a well-deserved wardrobe refresh and us the time finally update your collection of bermuda shorts, caps and pool slides.

2. Exercising

While it’s certainly important to keep your mind stimulated during these admittedly stressful times, it’s equally essential to keep your physical shape in tip-top condition. A global shift of focus to home workouts will be inevitable for the foreseeable future and there’s no better time to join the movement. Whether you’re gearing up for you’re daily HIIT workout or perhaps just a stint on the treadmill, you’ll find what you need in and amongst our carefully curated collection of running trainers, sweats shorts and breathable t-shirts.

3. Working from home

“All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy”. But all play and no work will probably get Jack the sack! Sadly for most of us, not having to go into work doesn’t mean the work no longer needs to be done. It simply necessitates the dreaded task of converting the extra bedroom into something that somewhat resembles an office space. Some of us will even be treated to a barrage of visual conference calls with superiors and clients alike, forcing us to appear presentable and appropriately dressed in our own homes! If, like many of us, you happen to fall into that category, why not treat yourself to a brand-spanking-new suit or even just a sharp new shirt? And for those seeking a slightly less formal attire, we’ve got you covered with a selection of cardigans and polo shirts.

And most importantly...

4. Taking some time for yourself

In and amongst the pandemonium of somehow trying to juggle the many different elements of ordinary life, while restricting yourself to only operating from the confines of your own home, it’s imperative that you find some time to retreat and enjoy some R&R. Relax. Put your feet up at the end of the day. It’s time to swap trainers and shoes for flip flops and sliders. Shirts and jeans for hoodies and tracksuit bottoms. Allocate some time to relax with a good book or to snuggle up with your loved ones in front of the TV. We have some perfect loungewear options available for all your “me-time” needs.
